Trump’s Brand of Logic

Trump Times Mag

The President’s bizarre brand of logic was on full display as he responded Monday to revelations about Obama and the Russian attack.

Quick: What were you doing between 5:37 and 6:05 Monday morning? I was sleeping. But not our President. He was up, walking the halls of power, and tweeting. In four tweets totaling approximately 560 characters, Donald Trump laid out a new theory, a gem of Trump-logic. Here is the message, assembled into one statement:
“The reason that President Obama did NOTHING about Russia after being notified by the CIA of meddling is that he expected Clinton would win and did not want to “rock the boat.” He didn’t “choke,” he colluded or obstructed, and it did the Dems and Crooked Hillary no good. The real story is that President Obama did NOTHING after being informed in August about Russian meddling. With 4 months looking at Russia under a magnifying glass, they have zero “tapes” of T people colluding. There is no collusion & no obstruction. I should be given an apology!”

First off, I have to point out that Trump is reacting to commentary on the story and not the story itself. The idea that Obama did nothing is just wrong. He not only imposed new sanctions, kicked out Russian diplomats (spies…) and seized those two compounds, he also reportedly had remote-detonatable cyber bombs dropped into Russia’s critical infrastructure, just in case. So he didn’t do nothing.

Obama serious

But the commentary on the story (largely by liberals) tended to be that Obama didn’t do enough. Trump in this tweet apparently agrees with that, but thinks Obama’s public silence actually constitutes a crime. Of course, there is no law preventing a President from supporting his party’s chosen candidate, but it wouldn’t be proper to mix their election work with their Presidential work. That’s probably why Obama felt like he shouldn’t say anything about the Russian plot to elect Trump. He was also overconfident in Clinton, and trusted her to continue to work on this issue once in office. I don’t see the case that Obama did anything illegal, but it’s interesting to note the words Trump used to suggest that he did – “collusion,” and “obstruction,” the two words that probably haunt Trump the most during his late-night walks.

As with everything, Trump then turns to the allegations against his campaign, seemingly believing that the accusation he’s lobbed at Obama make it clear that he and his associates are innocent of anything they might be accused of. He says that after four months, the lack of any tapes of “T people colluding,” is further proof that the investigations are baseless or as he’s said in the past, a “witch-hunt.” And he wants an apology.

Trump look shady

I don’t know from who but as he says, no tapes…so…that’s Trump-logic.
